DIFFERENCES BETWEEN LOGOTYPE, ISOTYPE, IMAGOTYPE and ISOLOGO

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN LOGOTYPE, ISOTYPE, IMAGOTYPE and ISOLOGO:

Branding

Normally when we refer to the graphic image of a brand, it has been generalized by calling everything a Logo, but it is not entirely accurate and here we are going to clarify this error that is so common today in the world of Branding.

LOGOTYPE

It is the word or typography.

We call Logo the word or name with which the brand is identified when used alone, without any other graphic element associated with the corporate brand.

To get a better idea of what is called Logo we can see these examples:

The Logo as part of the corporate image will be the most important element with which the audience will identify us, since it is not only a graphic element, but also the name with which they will end up calling the brand when they talk about it.

In fact, there are brands that only have a logo to identify themselves, without the need for other graphic elements.

ISOTYPE

It´s the symbol.

We call Isotype that graphic element with which the brand is identified when used alone, without being accompanied by the Logo.

To get a better idea of what is called Isotype we can see these examples:

The Isotype as part of the corporate image, will be the graphic element that will normally be used as a symbol to identify the brand.

Using it more commonly in certain corporate products, in which we do not want to put the Logo or use it with a larger size, to achieve a better visual and presence of the brand.

IMAGOTYPE

It is when the logo and the Isotype appear together, but being two independent elements.

We call Imagotype to that graphic element with which the brand is identified when the Logo and Isotype are combined.

To get a better idea of what is called Isotype we can see these examples:

The Imagotype as part of the corporate image will be the graphic element that will normally be used as a symbol to identify the brand, using it so that the Isotype is associated with the Logo and the audience identifies them both as the same brand, especially when we use the Isotype alone.

ISOLOGO

It is the fusion of the Logo and the Isotype forming a single element.

We call Isologo that graphic element with which the brand is identified when the Logo and Isotype merge.

To get a better idea of what is called Isotype we can see these examples:

The Isologo as part of the corporate image will be the graphic element that will normally be used as a symbol to identify the brand, when we see that the Logo and the Isotype are unified in the same graphic element.

This can be useful when we want to make use of the Isotype when we apply it to products, and still want the brand to also appear as part of the graphic element.
